KID’S CURRICULUM

SCIENCE:

Instructor: Miss Eliza Elliot - Miss Elliott has worked extensively with special needs children, preschoolers, and children of all ages. She was a director of Sunday school at her local church, has been trained as a nurse and is currently a staff member at King's Kids working with the junior high program.

Miss Elliott will guide the students in hands-on science experiments each week learning the scientific method while analyzing and interpreting experiments in an engaging manner.


history / music

Instructor: Morielle Holler - Miss Holler graduated with a violin performance degree from Bellmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. She is currently a music teacher for children of all ages teaching piano and violin. 

Using Veritas History cards, students will learn all major events in history engagingly interpreting experiments beginning with the Old Testament and Ancient Egypt; New Testament, Greece and Rome; Middle Ages, Renaissance and Reformation; Explorers to 1815; and 1815 to Present all with the mediums of music and hand motions. Not only will they learn the major events, but Miss Holler will take her extensive background in music to teach your students a music lesson each week along with their History lesson.


math

Instructor: Caleb Knorpp - Mr. Knorpp has a strong background in the fields of science, math and finance. He is affiliated with King’s Kids as a volunteer, teacher and mentor and he has worked professionally as a tutor in the United States and Kenya.

Mr. Knorpp will be teaching two levels of math: one for ages 4 to 7 and the other for ages, 9-11. Basic math principles, concepts, and memorization will lay the groundwork for the math they do at home.


bible

Instructor: Cheryl Kolesar - Mrs. K grew up in a missionary's home and began teaching Bible classes at 12 years old in English and in Spanish. She has received much training from Child Evangelism Fellowship and is passionate about teaching children of all ages bringing Bible stories to life and introducing students to the character of God.

The stories of Esther, the queen, and Elijah the prophet, will come to life as Mr. K spends a semester with each character (using flannelgraph!) as well as exciting missionary stories that are sure to inspire your child to trust God more!


literature

Instructor: Abby Bell - Miss Bell loves literature and has read more books than she can count! She is passionate about reading aloud to students drawing them into the world of the characters and inspiring them along the way. Her desire is to be a creative writer and is currently working towards a business degree.

Miss Bell will read aloud each week from specially chosen chapter books and follow with discussions with the students as they glean many nuggets from each book. There will be a class for ages 4 yrs - 8 yrs and one for ages 9 yrs - 12 yrs with Literature chosen for each level. The students will have 8 books read aloud to them this year.


ART

Instructor: Celeste Sarmiento - Miss Sarmiento is a Telos Academy student, and a gifted artist. She is passionate about sharing the basic principles for making beautiful pieces of art and will be introducing a new medium with the students and they will leave with their artwork completed each and every week.

Instructor: Mrs. Kolesar - Mrs. Kolesar was raised on the mission field and grew up speaking spanish in Venezuela and Mexico. She is fluent in English and Spanish. Your student will learn conversational Spanish and vocabulary for common items and colors.
